Biography

Amer EL-HAMOUZ is a full member of AIChE, IChemE, member of the Jordanian Engineering Association. He is Full professor of Chemical Engineering (Reaction and Separations systems), Director of University Practical Training Centre

  1. EL-Hamouz joint the department of chemical engineering in 1997 as a founder of the department. Professor El-Hamouz is a winner of St Andrews prize 2001. In 2011 he was appointed as the director of practical training center. Between the years 2002 -2007 he was a member of the Editorial board of the Process Safety and Environmental Protection Journal, published by the Institute of Chemical Engineers, UK. In 2005 professor EL-HAMOUZ spend his sabbatical year in Unilever –UK where he gained more practical experience in structured fluids. He has a good contact with the Palestinian chemical industry and he served as a technical consultant for several companies. Some of his final year graduation projects are to tackle real environmental/industrial problems. Since 2010 he is a member of the reviewing committee “Made in Palestine”. EL-Hamouz is a team leader for several projects on the utilization of solid waste in producing valuable products funded by PARC. Currently Professor El-Hamouz is the director of a project named “Improvement of Students Skills towards Employment Enhancement: Collaboration between An-Najah Training and Innovation Centers with Palestinian Food Industries Union ( PFIU)”.
  • During the last 15 years, Professor EL-Hamouz was involved in several projects related to Emulsification of silicone oil in water in agitated tanks and high shear devices, Hazardous solid waste management, medical waste management, environmental impact assessment, mixing in the pharmaceutical industry and its related environmental impact. Professor El-Hamouz has more than 10 year working experience in projects related to institutional aspects and capacity building of water, wastewater and solid waste management. Additionally he has more than 10 years in Hazardous waste management and he was appointed as National Hazardous waste management consultant.
  • Professor EL-Hamous has more than 6 years professional experience and freelance consultant in strategic planning and development, institutional capacity building, administration quality improvement, socio-economic studies, needs assessment studies, feasibility studies, and occupational health and safety. training

 

Since 2001, EL-Hamouz was involved in refereeing several articles published by impacted factor journals in the area, of environmental engineering and chemical Engineering disciplines.

In the academic year 2013-2014 he was the Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technology.

In addition to these, He supervised and being an internal and external examiner for more than 14 M.Sc students, in energy and environment topics as well as safety engineering topics. Professor El-Hamouz teaches graduate and undergraduate level courses.

He has more than 10 years of experience in Hazardous waste management and he was appointed by UNEP and GIZ as National Hazardous waste management consultant for the beneficiary of EQA. He was appointed as a hazardous waste management expert to perform a gap analysis on the existing National Strategic Plan for Hazardous Waste Management and propose the necessary steps to update it. With the lates project in Aligning Legislations with the International Environmental Agreements and Prepare New Environmental Legislation.

Professor EL-Hamouz published more than 41 papers in refereed Journals and international conferences
