Biography

Dr. Muath Asmar is an Associate Professor of FinTech at the Faculty of Business and Communication, An-Najah National University. He has diverse academic and professional experience in finance, financial markets and institutions, information technology, and financial technology, in addition to managerial and consulting experience in the private sector at both the local and international levels. He is also a certified expert and arbitrator in Information Technology and E-Commerce accredited by the Palestinian Ministry of Justice.

Dr. Asmar holds a Bachelor’s degree in Banking and Finance from An-Najah National University, a Master’s degree in Information Technology, and a PhD in Financial Markets Technology from Universiti Sains Malaysia. He also conducted postdoctoral research in financial innovation, including Exchange-Traded Funds (ETFs) and Financial Technology (FinTech), at the School of Economics, Aristotle University of Thessaloniki, Greece.

His research interests lie at the intersection of financial markets and institutions, FinTech, and digital transformation. His primary researc areas include Market Microstructure, Capital Market Efficiency, FinTech and Digital Transformation in the Financial Sector, Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning Applications in Finance, Financial Innovation and Digital Financial Markets, Securities Trading Technology, Blockchain and Cryptocurrencies, Cybersecurity in Digital Banking, and Data-Driven Financial Analytics. His research focuses particularly on examining how emerging technologies influence financial market efficiency, banking operations, investment decision-making, risk management, and the development of digital financial services and products.

Throughout his academic career, Dr. Asmar has taught a wide range of undergraduate and postgraduate courses in finance, financial markets, and information technology, including Portfolio Theory, Financial Markets and Institutions, Research Methodology and Statistical Tools, Financial Information Systems, FinTech, Financial Modeling and Analytics, and Risk Management and Compliance, as well as a number of interdisciplinary courses at the intersection of finance and technology. He has also contributed to academic program development, curriculum design, quality assurance and accreditation, and the management of academic activities and programs.

Dr. Asmar has published a number of research articles in international peer-reviewed journals and has participated in numerous international conferences and academic events. He has also served as a Visiting Professor in the Department of Economics and Management at the University of Pavia, Italy. His international academic experience also includes a research visit to the United States, where he explored topics related to post-trade processes and equity settlement in U.S. financial markets, as well as factors influencing bank performance. The visit also included exposure to the operations of several U.S. financial institutions and markets and participation in specialized academic activities focusing on financial and economic risk measurement. His academic, research, and professional experience reflects a growing commitment to advancing interdisciplinary knowledge and applications at the intersection of finance, FinTech, financial markets, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and emerging financial technologies.
