Factors Affecting the Adoption of Mobile Banking in Palestine

Voluminous number of mobile applications is introduces every year. Among the most crucial mobile applications is that used in banking sector. This paper examine the factors affecting the adoption of banking applications in Palestine based on the extension of the Technology Acceptance Model (TAM). Data collected from customers of the banks in Palestine via online survey were analyzed using the Structural Equation Modeling. The results reveal that the proficiency of using mobile banking is relatively low and still in its infancy in Palestine. In addition, the results of this study show that, several factors have significant effect on consumer intention to adopt and use mobile banking services provided by banks in Palestine. The finding of this paper would provide important information to the regulatory bodies of banks and the information technology companies with regard to the design of mobile banking applications. The banks customers also could benefit from the findings of this study by taking into consideration the factors that affects their adoption of mobile banking in Palestine. By revealing these results this paper, will be a launching pad and a starting point for further research.
