Doctor Qamhieh was born in 1960 in Nablus city – Palestine. He received his secondary school education (Tawjihi) in 1978 from Qadri Tuqan School in Nablus. Later, he got his B. Sc. Degree in Physics in 1982 from the physics Department at An-Najah National University in Nablus. After graduation, he was employed as a teaching assistant in the Physics Department until he got a scholarship in 1984 from the AMIDEAST to study for Master degree in Physics in USA. He got his Master degree in Physics from Southern Illinois University (SIU) at Carbondale-USA in the year 1986 in the field of studying the kinetics of chemical reactions by using IR - CO₂ laser. In June 1986, he joined the Physics Department at An-Najah National University again to work as Physics instructor till 1989 when he got another study scholarship from the Catholique University of Leuven (KUL) in Belgium from where he got his Ph. D. degree in Physics in 1994 in the field of developing a laser ion source for ON-Line experiments in accelerators. He joined the Physics Department at An-Najah National University to work as Assistant Professor till now. During his work at An-Najah University, he joined the government for two years 2006-2007 working as Assistant Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Education and Higher Education.
