Biography

Tala Nazzal is an instructor in the Audiology and Speech Sciences program at An-Najah National University and a practicing Speech-Language Pathologist. Her research is grounded in generative grammar, with a specific focus on the early acquisition of Palestinian Arabic.  

Dr. Nazzal earned her PhD in Cognitive Science and Language from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona, where her dissertation, The Early Acquisition of Syntax: Evidence from Palestinian Arabic, explored syntactic development in young learners of Palestinian Arabic. She holds an MSc in Speech Difficulties from the University of Sheffield, where she investigated Picture Naming in Arabic: A Normative Data Sample of Monolingual Speakers from Palestine. She completed her undergraduate studies at Birzeit University with a BSc in Audiology and Speech-Language Therapy, conducting research on Phonological Errors and Sound Changes in Normally Developing Arabic-Speaking Children.  

Dr. Nazzal has been a faculty member at An-Najah National University since 2019, previously serving as a Research and Teaching Assistant. Her academic and clinical work center on early language acquisition, phonological development, and speech-language assessment in Arabic-speaking populations.
