Course Description

Verbal Therapy, Hearing Impairment, Hearing Impaired children (characteristics, assessment & therapy approaches) will be elaborated. Effects of hearing impairment on different life aspects of suffering children are raised as well the importance of early detection and intervention along with continuous testing to evaluate disorders. Importance of Family role is raised as well.

Practical performance and training to apply the objectives of the main course will be done along with family counseling plans using audio video aids to direct the students to the methods of evaluating and managing impairments in children

  1. Understand hearing impairment and its effects on all.
  2. Distinguish between Auditory Verbal Therapy and other Aural rehabilitation programs.
  3. Understand the basic elements and philosophy of auditory verbal therapy approach for the management of children with hearing impairment.
  4. Evaluate auditory skills and language of hearing impaired children
  5. The basic knowledge of types and models of hearing aids, cochlear implants, their components and functions.
  6. Counsel families of hearing impaired children  
  7. Understand speech and language development in children with hearing impairment
  8. Apply the proper auditory verbal therapy intervention plans
