Biography

Samah Saleh is Assistant professor at An-Najah National University. She finished her  PhD in Sociology from Goldsmiths, London. Her doctoral research focused on the experience of Palestinian women’s incarceration in Israeli prisons. She followed women’s lives before, during and after imprisonment. she have finished two masters: the first master in social work from McGill University/ Canada (2007-2008). The second masters in Gender and Development from Birzet University/ Palestine. At the moment she is the head of the Social Work department at An-Najah National University, and also the coordinator of the master of women studies. Her research interest focuses on Gender and politics, she is interested in Palestinian women experiences in Israeli colonial prisons. At the moment she is working in two research projects one is in collaboration with Amsterdam University around the intersection between marriage and politics for Palestinian women former prisoners. Second is a research around Palestinian women participation in decision making in three levels (household, community and the national level).
