Analytical and Critical Study of Imam Al-Dhahabi’s expression
(Trustworthy narrator is the one who has been cited by others and never been weakened)
Abstract
The significance of knowing the terminologies of the science of Impugnment and Validation is a very important issue for those who study the science of Hadith since this play an important role in understanding the various judgments and opinions of Hadith scholar. This research aims to detect the justification of Imam Al-Dhahabi in defining reliable narrator as someone who is trustworthy by many and not being weakened and comparing this definition with other scholars’ views of reliable narrators, and then the opinion of Al-Dhahabi himselfe elsewhere in his books to see if the narrators cited by Al-Dhahabi fulfill the condition in the aforementioned definition. It was found through this research that Imam Al-Dhahabi aims through this definitions to bring the narrators of Hadith to a stage where he is ingenuous and trustworthy , so that can be relied on; This simply take place only as Hadith cited by many narrators.
