This study aims to shed light on the sanctification of trees as a global pagan phenomenon, which has existed among most nations since the dawn of history. People have shared many motives, beliefs, and rituals associated with it. This study concentrates on the origin, the prevalence of the phenomenon, the spiritual abilities that the sacred trees possessed, and the relationship between the sacred trees and the gods of different nations, as well as the religious rituals that were practiced towards them. The study has adopted the historical approach of examining its resources and employing them to serve its subjects. It clarifies that the concept of "spirit" is the central point on which various religions were based throughout history, which is considered the origin of ancestor worship. Moreover, it is also found that sanctifying trees stemmed from the concept of "Animism", which means that natural assets possess a spirit that is capable of influencing people. However, the ancient man did not sanctify the tree in its natural state, but rather the spirit that inhabited it, which was considered a Divine Spirit. Furthermore, some of the ceremonial traditions prevalent today, in which trees play a role, are considered an extension of this phenomenon.
