Biography

Sabrina Russo

I am member of the Italian Board of Clinical Psychology and Psychotherapy. I’m graduated from Firenze University in Italy with a Laurea’s in Clinical Psychology (M.A.) and Quadrennial School of Speciality in Gestalt Psychotherapy accredited by the Italian Ministry of Education.  My professional activities include teaching, researching, assessing, diagnosing, and individual and group counselling, short and long term psychotherapies.

I have been committed to the treatment of trauma for the entirety of my professional life, from my first experience working in shelter houses for women and children victims of violence in Italy, to the current work in Palestine, where I’m holding psychological debriefings with children and adults.

In Palestine, since 7 years, I have being collaborating with several local and international Associations and with Al Najah National University, where I’m currently employed.

For Al Najah National University, as an academic, I’m coordinating a Master Program in Community Mental Health Nursing and a Master in Clinical Psychology, teaching, researching and supervising students.

My research interests varied from Developmental disorders, the epidemiological related factors, experiences of family burdens and validation of diagnostic tools and programs, to traumas related constructs such as Resilience in conflict areas, personal growth, risk factors and protective factors, sense of coherence and meaningfulness.

As a clinician, I’m directing the Clinic of Al Najah Child Institute (specialized centre in assessment, diagnosis and rehabilitation of developmental disorders), supervising the multidisciplinary team, monitoring assessment procedures and following up the rehabilitation services.
