Dr. Asad Zuhair Taffal holds a Bachelor and Master degree in Sociology from Birzeit University as well as a PhD degree in Social Sciences – International Relations from the University of Adam Mickiewicz in Poland.
Dr. Asad’s PhD dissertation was titled “Erosion of the Collective Memory on the Example of Palestinian Refugees in the West Bank”, and has now become a specialist and an activist in Palestinian refugees’ affairs. His other study and research interests include political sociology, anthropology, cultural and civilization exchange, social theories, women’s studies, and contemporary Arab political and social issues.
Moreover, Dr. Asad has published many scientific articles in highly influential international scientific research journals in which he addressed various social, political and cultural topics pertaining to the situation in Palestine in particular and the global culture in general. In addition to that, Dr. Asad has actively participated in numerous local conferences in which he presented scientific research papers and served as moderator for some sessions in conferences such as Ibn Khaldoun and Social Service conference which was held in Palestine. He also took part in many international conferences and conducted some cultural studies in a number of countries, including Poland, Germany and Malaysia.
Dr. Asad has been a major contributor to the Department of Sociology and Social Service at An-Najah National University as he oversaw the organization of many activities and events that included seminars, workshops and science conferences. Furthermore, he served as an Assistant Dean of the Faculty of Arts and held the position of Head of the Sociology and Social Service Department at An-Najah National University for several years. He also participated as a member in many committees both on and off campus.
