Course Description

This capstone course provides Bachelor of Pharmacy students with hands-on research experience under faculty supervision. Students conduct an independent or group research project, applying scientific knowledge, ethical principles, and analytical skills to address a relevant issue in pharmacy or healthcare. The course emphasizes research design, data analysis, academic writing, and scholarly communication.

Course Objectives

The Research Project for Pharmacy course aims to equip students with advanced research skills by enabling them to formulate and investigate a scientific or practice-based pharmacy question, apply appropriate research methodologies, and analyze data critically. It fosters ethical research conduct in line with professional standards while emphasizing evidence-based decision-making and patient-centered approaches. Students will develop skills in academic writing, scientific communication, and interdisciplinary collaboration, culminating in a formal research thesis and oral defense, thereby preparing them for future research, advanced studies, or evidence-based pharmacy practice.

Intended learning Outcomes and Competences
  1. Apply foundational biomedical and pharmaceutical knowledge to formulate a research question, critically evaluate scientific literature, and interpret findings in the context of drug actions, therapies, and patient care.
  2. Design and execute a pharmacy-related research study by selecting appropriate methodologies, applying evidence-based principles, and adhering to legal/administrative standards in data collection and analysis.
  3. Collaborate effectively with peers, supervisors, and healthcare professionals to address research challenges, present findings, and discuss implications for interdisciplinary practice.
  4. Demonstrate research innovation and scholarly communication by critically analyzing data, proposing solutions to healthcare problems, and disseminating results through academic writing and presentations.
  5. Uphold ethical and patient-centered standards by ensuring research integrity, protecting participant confidentiality, and considering cultural/social determinants of health in study design and outcomes.
