Abstract This paper discusses the diversion ,i.e. Allah diverted the Arabs high
mindedness
away from the potentiality of imitating the Glorius Quran. It also
discusses its first use stating that the first one to use it openly was Ibrahim Ibn
Sayyar Al-Naththam of M’utazilah who was influenced by the Brahmans
ideology. He, thus, adopted the interpretation which hid viciousness and cunning
to deny the wondrous nature (I’jaz)of the Quran.Such interpretation flourished
among the M’utazilah believers and spread to others with good or evil intent and
was no longer restricted to the Mu’tazilah. This interpretation was olso called for
and supported by figures of sunnah and Shi’ah and was developed to have
different connotations and meanings.
Necessity, then, emerges to state the various interpretations of the concept. It is
unjust to attribute the concept to all who used it without stating their intention,
and, yet, unfair to refute involvement of others since this concept is obviously
stated in their writings.
The closing chapter of this study deals with evidence for refuting prevention and
stating its imperfection.
