Project of Linking with the Private Tourism Sector: The Tourism and Archaeology Department Curriculum Reform at An-Najah National University.

An-Najah National University has received a grant from the Quality Improvement Fund (QIF) - Education to Work Transition Project - Ministry of Education and Higher Education, funded by the World Bank for the project entitled: Linking with the Private Tourism Sector: The Tourism and Archaeology Department Curriculum Reform. The main objective of this project is to develop the tourism and archaeology programs at NNU in a manner that enhances students' competencies and facilitates their transition from education to the labor market, thus increase graduates' employment rates. So far, eleven partnerships with private and public sectors have been created, and the project is working towards developing these partnerships into strategic alliances. These partnerships will enable students to obtain required professional and life skills, as a result supply the local Palestinian market with highly-qualified graduates. Staff and students capacity building activities have been conducted, such as study tour for staff and partners, archaeology draws training for students and staff, ticketing  reservation training for staff and partners, practical archeology excavation training, hotels practical training using online internship system (Zajel). More capacity building activities are planned to be conducted along with carrying out internship programs, enhancing program infrastructure, and supporting students' graduation projects. Finally, the outcomes of project are expected to building more robust partnership between university and partners. Consequently, generating more skillful graduate capable of competing with other universities graduates in finding proper jobs in the private sector.
