Adolescence is a critical stage in school students' life because it marks a transition to adulthood. Teenagers usually experience both deep physical and psychological changes which affect their behavior at home, on the street and at school and their relationship with the social environment they live in. This stage of their life also affects their academic achievements. In addition, students face the complexity of modern means of telecommunication; mobile, Internet, T.V, radio. These means are asource of distraction for them during their study. Against this backdrop comes the importance of the educational counselor's intervention to assist the student to cross this stage safely and alleviate its impact on his/her academic performance. This study seeks to find out the extent of the eleventh and twelfth grades' responses and reception of the educational counselor. It also endeavors to explore avenues for possible solutions to buttress students' reception and acceptance of the counselor. To these ends, the researcher developed a questionnaire and administered it to a sample, chosen randomly, of five hundred students of both sexes. The researcher also conducted interviews with both students and educational counselors of both sexes. The researcher, besides, made first hand observation of live interviews which counselors made. In the light of the study findings, the researcher recommends holding training courses for educational counselors to increase quality of their services. The researcher also recommends periodical evaluation of the educational counselors' performance. The researcher, finally, suggests conducting further research on the problems facing school educational counselors and working to improve image of the counselors among school principals, teachers, students and their parents.
