This study discusses how the prophets (peace be upon them) focused on directing da‘wah to relatives. Relatives are the sole focus of da‘wah in many instances. This was done by reviewing the instances mentioned in the Holy Qur’ān related to the prophets’ and messengers’ da‘wah carried out to their relatives. By reviewing the Qur’ānic verses it becomes clear that the Holy Qur’ān instructed prophets (peace be upon them) to focus on carrying out da‘wah to their relatives. This is due to its role in fortifying the message and protecting it on one hand, and an indication of the truthfulness of the message and the reliability of the one calling to the message on the other hand. The stance of the prophets’ relatives towards the message varied. Some responded to the call, while others deviated from it, avoided it, and did not respond to it as if their ears were deaf. From this study it was found that there are many beneficial findings where prophets (peace be upon them) focused on carrying out da‘wah to their relatives, some of which are: Islam takes the innate human nature into account considering the innate inclination of tenderness towards relatives; Islam focuses on the unity of families; Calling relatives to obey Allah is a means of keeping family ties; Da‘wah should first be carried out within the close surroundings, where relatives are regarded as the first and foremost inner rings of such.
