Gas-phase brucite dehydroxylation and simultaneous dehydroxylation/carbonation processes were investigated to better understand the fundamental mechanisms involved and the role of different parameters governing them. Dehydroxylation was found to generally precede carbonation as a distinct but interrelated process.
