The Effect of occupation on the development of symbolism of the Palestinian Fine Artists

This study aimed to identifying symbolism and its role and development in the Palestinian fine arts throughout the various stages of occupation from the pre-1948 period to 2007 AC, in addition to exploring the content of symbolism and its meanings in the Palestinian artworks and its patriotic, religious, heritage, social and human dimensions as well as its psychological meanings. The study has brought analysis of some Palestinian fine-artworks in the period from the setback of 1967 to 2007 AC.
The results of the study have shown the usage of several symbols by the Palestinian artist in the artwork, which exposed the level of conflict and suffering with and from the Israeli occupation, and existence of the occupant on the Palestinian soil. In addition, the results revealed the attempts of the artist to search and invent in employing the Palestinian fine arts so as to achieve their goal of independence and quality living, through employing his resources of artwork in expressing his message in a way corresponding to the various occurrences of events, as well as employing it in serving the Palestinian Quest.
The current study has came to the conclusion that symbolism in the Palestinian fine-artworks bears various meanings unique to the Palestinian artwork, that makes it different from other artistic approaches and styles, as a result of the events through which the Palestinian quest has gone, promoting artist to invent special symbols and sings which he used in most of the artworks that produced a set of questions, meanings, and dispositions under occupation, relying on the process of perception, visual, sensual and corporal reactions resulting from studying the artwork.
