This study examines the topic of moral education through role modelling in Imam al-Qurtubi's interpretation "Al-Jami' li-Ahkam al-Quran" (The Compendium of Legal Rulings of the Quran). Education through role modelling is considered one of the most effective educational methods in Islam for instilling values and principles in individuals. The study seeks to answer the main question: How did Imam al-Qurtubi address the concept of moral education through role modelling in his tafsir, and what are the features of his methodology in employing role models to establish moral values? The study adopted an inductive-analytical approach, examining the instances where al-Qurtubi discussed the role of exemplary figures in education and analysing them. Al-Qurtubi distinguished himself through his profound attention to the moral dimension; his interpretation was not limited to explaining linguistic meanings and juristic rulings but extended to deriving educational and humanitarian dimensions from Quranic verses. The study highlighted that al-Qurtubi made the Prophets, Companions, and righteous predecessor’s practical models to be emulated in behaviour and ethics, utilizing the Prophetic biography and the conduct of the Companions as educational sources for establishing values. It also showed that al-Qurtubi viewed role modelling as a practical representation of the Quranic text; the text does not remain merely a theoretical principle but transforms into practical behaviour through those who embodied it, including the Prophets and Companions
