Advancing Vocational Education: Essential Policies and Guidelines for Integrating AI Technologies in School Settings

The adoption of AI has its own advantages and challenges, in ensuring ethical, and
effective implementation. This paper explores the essential role of well-considered policy
and regulatory frameworks in fostering the successful integration of AI in vocational
education. It emphasizes the synergy between AI advancements and VET and delineates
the policies necessary for harnessing AI tools effectively in these educational contexts.
Through a comprehensive analysis of literature and employing mixed research, this study
identifies policy gaps and articulates targeted recommendations to ameliorate the integration of AI into VET systems, thereby enhancing their accessibility, utility, and effectiveness. The participants are 173 VET teachers and 12 experts in VET. Data collection was
through surveys and interviews. These interviews elucidate the tangible impacts of AI
integration, providing a real-world perspective that enriches the theoretical and empirical
findings. The study found that while 81% of VET teachers expressed readiness to integrate
AI. The outcome of this research is a set of actionable policies and regulatory guidelines
meticulously crafted to ensure the safe and efficacious integration of AI into VET, thereby
equipping policymakers, and vocational educators with the tools to navigate and leverage
the opportunities and challenges posed by AI in educational contexts.
