The issue of Muslims getting married to non-Muslim women is considered to be a crucial issue that the majority of Muslim men need to know more about; this is because it is relevant to the practical life of Muslims. This paper aims at investigating the basic rulings in relation to this issue based on interpreting the Qur’anic verses which discuss such an issue.
The researchers adopted the analytical inductive approaches by extrapolating the relevant Qur’anic verses, then interpreting them to get the connotations and ruling from the verses under discussion.
The most important findings are the followings: it is illegal and unlawful for a Muslim woman to marry a non-Muslim man; it is also illegal and unlawful for a Muslim man to marry a woman who is non-Muslim nor one of the People of the Book; there is no agreement on the ruling in relation to marrying a Magi woman by a Muslim man; finally, the majority of Muslim scholars agreed on marrying the Muslim man to a woman from People of the Book with some differences related to some details.
