This review explores the relationship between Trichomonas tenax and Entamoeba gingivalis in the context of periodontal diseases. Although these protozoa have been detected in association with periodontal disorders, available evidence remains inconclusive and insufficient to establish a direct causal link. This review examined the existing literature to assess the current state of knowledge regarding the involvement of Trichomonas tenax and Entamoeba gingivalis in periodontal diseases. Notably, this study emphasizes the controversial role of these parasites which requires further investigation. By providing a comprehensive overview of the available evidence, this review aims to provide a deeper understanding of the complex interaction between Trichomonas tenax, and Entamoeba gingivalis, and the development of periodontal diseases.
