This study sheds light on the policy of the Abbasids towards the Shiites of the Hasanids since before the establishment of the Abbasid state in 132AH/749AD until the Battle of Fakh in 169AD/786AD. It included a preface about historical roots of the Shiite conflict with the Caliphate institution until the emergence of the Hasanids on the scene of political events, and then it touched on the Abbasid leaders’ exploitation of the Hasanids in order to establish the Abbasid state, and their disavowal of them after that. I also talked about the good treatment that the Hasanids received during the reign of Al-Saffah, and then the extremist policy that Abu Jaafar Al-Mansur practiced against them, which led to the outbreak of the revolution of Muhammad bin Abdullah Al-Hasani and his death in 145AH/762AD. After that, I discussed the situation of the Hasanids during the reign of the Al-Mahdi until the Fakh massacre committed by the army of the Al-Hadi against Al-Hussein bin Ali Al-Hasani and his followers, and that the Abbasids succeeded in exploiting the Hasanids for the benefit of their secret mission, then they turned against them, disavowed them, and followed a strict policy towards them, which led to the outbreak of many Hasanid revolutions against them. The effects of those conflicts, which continued during subsequent periods, continue to cast a shadow over our Arab and Islamic present to this day.
