Abstract

The study aimed to analyze the common sides between the two novels: “America” by Rabie Jaber, and “One Hundred Years of Solitude” by Gabriel Marquez. The comparison has focused on several literary elements starting with time, place, ievents, characters, then finally plot and narrative structure. The study relied on the analytical method which is used for analysing the common sides between the two novels, and it reached a set of results, the most important which are: The two novelists Rabie Jaber and Gabriel Marquez have won an award on literature as an appreciation of their literary works. Further, both novels constitute a social history for the events that happened in the period which is covered by the novel. Both novels narrated an era spanning a whole century. Else, the both novels took the village as a theatre of events thus Rabie Jaber talked about his village “Batater” and Marquez about his village “Macondo”. The woman was the main character in the two novels, and both of them narrated a history, “America” talks about the history of first immigrants to America, and “One Hundred Years of Solitude” talks about “Commando” Village.
