This study talks about the historical reading of the Holy Qur’an by the modernist thinker Muhammad Arkoun and the orientalists, and it turns out that Muhammad Arkoun was influenced by the orientalists, as Muhammad Arkoun was a student in the West and was greatly influenced by the environment and surroundings in which he lived. The historical reading of the Qur’an was one of the most important methods that Muhammad Arkoun followed in dealing with the Qur’anic text, and he considered it a human product that came in response to specific temporal conditions that had passed and outdated.

This study came to reveal the meanings and concept of historical reading for Arkoun and Orientalists and to clarify the relationship between Arkoun and the Orientalists in this reading and the extent to which Arkoun was affected by Orientalists and Western modernity in this historical reading of the Qur’an and what follows from false claims against the holiest of Muslims’ sanctities, as this study contained a clear and comprehensive criticism. The alleged historical reading of Arkoun and of those who took from them from the Orientalists.
