Pediatric eye examination is considered as one of the most important exam in optometry, there
are many testes that can be done such as visual acuity tests, which is one of the most important
tests that can be done to detect any eye disorders or refractive errors early in order to get early
managements.
In our workshop, we want to focus on how to test VA in children aging up to 2 year old; we will
be discussing numerous tests that can be used to test children other than retinoscopy & auto
refraction, such as;
Binocular fixation pattern
10 PD fixation test
Illumination
Hundred and thousand sweet test
Optokinetic Drum (OKN)
Visual Evoked Potential
Teller acuity cards
Lea grating cards
Cardiff Acuity Cards
We will be brining most of these tests to the workshop and explain how to perform them, discuss
what test is best to be used with what age, and how to record VA using these tests.
Our goal is to increase awareness about the importance of pediatric VA tests that can be done in
clinics without the use of wet refraction.
