Abstract. The recognition of the significance of business model innovation (BMI) in determining the performance of a firm is widespread. Nevertheless, there is still a dearth of comprehensive comprehension regarding the antecedents that propel BMI. The present conceptual framework endeavors to bridge this void by positing an asso-ciation between learning orientation, absorptive capacity, strategic flexibility, and BMI. According to our model, companies that possess a robust learning orientation, exhibit high absorptive capacity, and demonstrate elevated levels of strategic flexibil-ity are more inclined to participate in BMI. Furthermore, it is hypothesized that BMI exerts a favorable influence on organizational performance, encompassing both financial and strategic consequences. The present conceptual model serves as a basis for forthcoming empirical investigations aimed at examining these associations and elucidating the precursors of BMI as well as its effects on organizational performance. Keywords: Business Model, Business Model Innovation, Absorptive Capacity, Learning Orientation, Business Performance.
