Eve, Mother of All Humans

(In the Holy Quran and the Torah)

Abstract

This research describes Eve, the Mother of All Humans, based on what is mentioned in the Holy Quran and the Torah found in the hands of the People of the Book (Jews and Christians). The research begins by talking about the name Eve and what scholars have said about its meaning in the language, in addition to the mentioning of her name in the Prophetic Hadith aside from the Holy Quran. Then it discusses the mentioning of her name in the Torah and describes how Eve was created, the difference between the Torah and the Holy Quran in this regard as well as the different opinions that scholars and interpreters have on this matter. Finally, the research talks about the role of Eve in the disobedience against Allah the Almighty, which is represented in the eating from the forbidden tree, and explains whether or not Eve is the cause of this sin as the Torah mentions and as is common among some scholars and many of the public.
