This study investigates the suspicions aroused by Goldziher in his book " Doctrines of Islamic Interpretation" about Ibin Abas and his approach of interpreting the Holy Quran with the aim of challenging one of the most prominent figures of Quranic interpretations. This study also seeks to discuss these suspicions and respond to them in a scientific and systemic way.
The study found that Goldziher employed different ways of raising suspicions about Ibin Abas and his interpretation. These ways included accusation without evidence, lack of scrutiny, generalization and exaggeration without document, misinterpretation and distortion. It also found that Goldziher’s suspicions did not meet the standards of scientific criticism as his view was not objective and comprehensive in his accusations to Ibin Abas. His view was selective his intentions were bad.
The study recommended that Goldziher's book be given special attention as it is one of the most important pillars of oriental studies so that all all the mistakes and fallacies in it are highlighted.
