Abstract

This research focuses on discussing the role of Satan (Iblis) in Adam’s story as explained in the Holy Quran’s verses and as is mentioned in the Torah of both the Jews and the Christians. The research first explains the meaning of the name Satan (Iblis) and the names and descriptions he has been given, as well as the number of times Satan was mentioned in Adam’s story in the Quran and the Torah. Moreover, the research discusses the act of kneeling to Adam and how Satan responded to Allah’s order to kneel to Adam. It also explains the excuse that Satan used to justify his disobedience to Allah, as well as Satan’s role in seducing Adam and Eve into eating from the forbidden tree. Finally, the research explains Satan’s punishment for disobeying Allah’s order and the fate that he shall destined to face as explained in the Holy Quran and the Torah
