The caliph Abd al-Malik bin Marwan and his followers from the Umayyad caliphs had a special interest in Jerusalem. The archaeological and historical evidence revealed their establishment of several places in Jerusalem (in a neighborhood in the Al-Aqsa Mosque). Such as the Dome of the Rock, the Dome of the Chain, and The Qibli Mosque, in addition to the palaces.
