Irina Karic works as an International Researcher at the Faculty of Law. Her primary focus is on furthering the capacity of the Faculty with respect to its burgeoning internationalization efforts, while liaising with national and international partners. Furthermore, as the Head of Visibility Committee, Irina has worked on creating a website for the Faculty of Law that will advance the university’s mission and message through dynamic and user-friendly manner that reflects the changing needs of its beneficiaries.
Prior to coming to Palestine, Irina worked as a research associate with independent consultants and ngo’s on a range of human rights and humanitarian projects. She tackled various issues including gender-based violence, education, and child protection, helping draft multi-clustered protection responses that are in alignment with the existing guidelines and human rights instruments. This work emerged out of her academic focus in graduate studies, during which Irina focused on research methods, transitional justice processes, international education and human rights.
Her passion for research and education took her to Bhutan, where she participated in a national participatory action research. There, she collected, analyzed and managed data and trained lecturers of the Royal University of Bhutan in innovative teaching practices and qualitative research methods, thereby contributing to the country’s national pedagogical framework.
Irina is excited about the future of the faculty of law and the myriad opportunities it grants to affect change and do meaningful work in the community.
