Biography

After completing her Master’s in Australia, Kefaya started working at An-Najah University in January 2016. Studying abroad has emboldened Kefaya’s confidence as a legal scholar, eager to share her points of view with students. She is a passionate advocate for human rights, particularly animal and women’s rights and is currently exploring Palestinian penal code to help change women’s role in the society. Her research highlights legal articles that discriminate against women, with a focus on honor killings. Kefaya is also working on the issue of abortion and a lack of legal protection for women and children.

In the past, she worked as the performers and speakers’ coordinator in the first TEDx event to take place at An-Najah University and in Nablus. Kefaya also represented Palestine in the 2nd International Model of Organization of Islamic Cooperation Global Summit, which took place in Kazan in 2012.

She also has an extensive experience working as a translator and local coordinator for ZAJEL International camps.

Kefaya looks forward to continuing her education and pursuing a PhD degree that will enable her to delve deeper in the discourse about safeguards against the discrimination of women and advancement of their human rights through changes of national laws that have been the key sources of women’s oppression.
