His primary research interests lie in the Law of Evidence, particularly in methods used to prove electronic crimes. Dr. Mashaqi recognizes that the law enforcement and legal communities are facing new challenges in the form of information technology, and combating cybercrimes is a universal aim, so he seeks to bring these issues to the forefront of the legal field in Palestine. Currently, he is exploring and analyzing privacy rights in the digital world.
He views teaching as a service that provides students with both science and practical knowledge that are relevant to finding a job. In his classroom, Dr. Mashaqi merges English and Arabic languages because he believes that learning English is very useful for students, not only for their personal development but also for their academic and professional careers, as it may enable them to conduct research and become acquainted with foreign laws. When he is not teaching, he works as a lawyer in Jordan. A father of six children, he also enjoys spending time with his family, working the land and writing poetry.
