Dr. Nael has been with An-Najah for twenty years, teaching in both BA and MA programs. He also works as a lawyer and expert arbitrator, and is a board member at both Jerusalem Legal Aid Center and Reef Finance, a rural micro finance company in Ramallah that helps provide in-kind loans and credits to farmers, students and small business operators. Dr. Nael has presented at a number od conferences, including Arab Nations Conference, and was a recipient of the Fellowship at University of New South Wales in Sydney, where he conducted research and worked with the team of federal, state and police prosecutors. As a member of the EU Criminal Law Bar Association, he wrote a research study about death penalty and legal analysis.
Dr. Nael brings to his classes new teaching methodologies and practical cases derived from his vast experience of work as a lawyer. Currently, he is researching the probation sentencing and the legislative imposition of specific sentences for certain crimes, and the comparison of detention law between the Palestinian and the Anglo Saxon systems.
Dr. Nael hopes to take part in creating a Juris Doctorate program in Palestine and to continue teaching and contributing to a legal scholarship of criminal law in Palestine.
