Course Description

 

The course aims at providing students with overview of different methods, approaches issues , practices in teaching and leaning English as a foreign language. The course represents an introduction to the profession of teaching English by providing methods background information and relevant research in the area of teaching English as a foreign language

Course Objectives

The course aims at presenting students with different methods and techniques used in teaching the language.  It presents the principles that each method is based on. it also introduces techniques used in each one. Students would gain an understanding of the different methods and be able to choose what is best for the teaching situation

Intended learning Outcomes and Competences

 

  1. Develop an understanding of the different methods used in teaching English as a foreign language.
  2. Develop an  understanding of theories of teaching in language teaching.
  3. Develop  an understanding of the  teaching principles and classroom activities which teacher can refer to in their work
  4.  Develop an understanding of the activities that can be used in English  as a foreign language classroom.
