Course Description

The course of case management designed to enable the students to be familiar with case management approaches, the effective collaborative role of the nurse will be stressed, the community nurse considered the most important familiar professional person with the patients psychiatric problems forethat the nurse can work with, psychologist, psychiatrist, social workers, and other persons and agencies for the benefit of the patient care plan and effective recovery process.

Course Objectives

Upon the completion of this course the student will be able :

  1. To identify the major component of case management process
  2. To be mature enough in assessing the mental and psychiatric concerns
  3. Able to formulate effective care plan for the different cases
  4. Able to work as a part of a community mental health team including psychiatrist, psychologist, social worker and other expected coworkers.
  5. Ability to evaluate the care plan goals and modification of these goals according to the client needs.
  6. Follow up the cases in the community and the mental health centers through the clinical days of the course.
  7. Identify two cases, discuss the care given, and also link the cases with the evidence bases articles through discussing these articles in the clinical field and in the class.

           This course is designed to fulfill the theoretical and also the practical parts and presentation, modeling skills in the class.

 C.2 Able to formulate nursing care plan.

 C.3 Measure the client problems according to the priorities

C.4 Know the role of: Psychiatrist, psychologist, sociologist to make effective liaison with them.
