Course Description

This course is designed to prepare the student to take appropriate action in providing emergency first aid care to others until professional emergency responders arrive.

Course Objectives

This course is designed to introduce both life threatening and non-life threatening medical scenarios and to instruct the student how to recognize and respond appropriately to each given situation.  Also to familiarize students with first aid which is the initial assistance ortreatment given to a person who isinjured or suddenly becomes ill.The course will include adult one-man CPR, use of an AED, rescue breathing and obstructed airway skills

Intended learning Outcomes and Competences

At the end of this course students should be able to

1.To demonstrate how to perform an initial assessment on a patient.

2. Assess vitals for a patient.

3. Perform Heimlich maneuver.

4. Perform CPR
