The main aim of this course is to introduce student to immunization theory and to its use in the prevention of communicable diseases and the comparison of the different strategies in the world related to this issue and the consequences of their application in the prevention and control of infectious diseases and control of use or abuse of antibiotics. Immunization is a proven tool for controlling and eliminating life-threatening infectious diseases and is estimated to avert between 2 and 3 million deaths each year. It is one of the most cost-effective health investments, with proven strategies that make it accessible to even the most hard-to-reach and vulnerable populations. It has clearly defined target groups and it can be delivered effectively through outreach activities according to WHO.
