The course of special education consists nine chapters that will cover the concept of special education, exceptional children, education plans, classification or the categories of special education, while the second chapter will deal with the mental retardation, definition, identification and assessment, characteristics, prevalence, causes, education approaches and education placement alternatives. The third chapter will deals with learning disabilities, its definition, characteristics, prevalence, causes, assessment and educational approaches and placement alternatives. The fourth chapter covers emotional and behavioural disorders, definition, characteristics, prevalence, causes, assessment and educational approaches and placement alternatives. The fifth chapter will discuss the autism spectrum disorders, definition, characteristics, screening and diagnosis, prevalence, educational approaches and placement alternatives. The sixth chapter will discuss the communication disorders, its definition, characteristics, prevalence, causes, assessment and educational approaches and placement alternatives. The seventh chapter deal with deafness and hearing loss, its definition, characteristics, prevalence, causes, assessment and educational approaches and placement alternatives. The eighth chapter discuss blind and low vision impairment its definition, characteristics, prevalence, causes, assessment and educational approaches and placement alternatives. In addition, the ninth and the last chapter will consider by physical disabilities and health impairment, definition, types prevalence, characteristics and educational approaches and alternatives.
By the end of this course, the student will achieve systematic knowledge in the following fundamental areas:
