Course Description

Discourse analysis studies how meaning is constructed throughout the text. Discourse could be defined as the study of language organization above the sentence level as manifested in context. This course will acquaint students with the major approaches and methods used in discourse analysis, such as speech acts theory, conversation analysis, ethnography of communication and critical discourse analysis.
