Objective: to evaluate the complaint of chronic prostatitis patients within category II,III-A, and III-B groups before and at the end of the first months of therapy by using chronic prostatitis symptoms index(CPSI) in order to define improvement rates statistically. Patients and methods: Fifty nine patients with chronic prostatitis were evaluated by clinical and microbiological methods and categorized. Appropriate therapy was given to all patients and they were evaluated before and after the treatment by using CPSI. Results: the ages of the patients ranged between 17 and 52 years with mean of 31.34+1.75. Clinical and microbiological assessments showed that 30 patients (51%) were in category II, 4(7%) in category III-A and 25(42%) in category III-B. CPSI results indicated statistically significant improvement of symptoms in each category with treatment (p≤ 0.05). The recovery rate in category II and III-B patients were similar (p≥0.05). Statistically comparison was not reasonable for the small III-B group. Conclusion: when the results are evaluated by CPSI treatment causes statically significant improvement in chronic prostatitis patients
