Earthquakes are highly catastrophic natural events, in terms of casualties and economic losses when they occur in the proximity of densely populated urban areas. The resilience of any urban area begins with the understanding of the earthquake threat. Evaluation of the seismic hazard is always the first step into that direction; that requires incorporating all relevant datasets and applicable information on the geology seismology and tectonics. Generally, earthquake catalogues are the prime data available, while geological information is often complementary used. Herein, we summarize the process of collection, analysis and harmonization of earthquake related data for the West-Bank territories in Palestine. Firstly, an earthquake catalogue is compiled from various sources and is harmonized in terms of moment magnitude (Mw); it contains more than 14000 events, spanning a time-interval of 2046 years. Moreover, active faults of the region were compiled from two main sources: the corresponding dataset compiled within the Earthquake Model of the Middle East (EMME) Project and from peer-reviewed research manuscripts. Associated uncertainties are quantified and embedded in the final dataset, which consists of seismically active faults, fully parameterized, capable of generating moderate to large magnitude earthquakes. These datasets are the basis to forecast the future seismicity within a probabilistic framework of seismic hazard and risk analysis of the West-Bank territories. The contribution concludes with a comparison of earthquake rates forecast of the two datasets (i.e. earthquakes catalogue and active faults). The present study is an extension of the activities of the SASPARM 2.0 EC-funded project developed by the EUCENTRE Foundation, An-Najah National University and School of Advanced Studies IUSS Pavia.
