The share of grid-connected photovoltaic (PV) power sources in power distribution systems is expected to rise due to increasing costs of traditional fossil-fuel and continuous reduction of the cost of PV generators worldwide. This Study presents the schematic diagram of a complete PV generator with control system (design with detailed specifications) to be connected safely with the electric network of Jenin. The effect of connecting PV generator to the grid with respect to voltage level, power losses, power factor, reactive power and harmonics are thoroughly investigated in this paper. Results and conclusions will include proper ratings of the PV generator design to be connected with a definite specified grid and ways for improving the power quality in the grid. We will investigate the possibility of using PV generators in order to improve the performance of the system which was selected from one part of Jenin’s power distribution network that contains 25 of same voltage level, taking into consideration the voltage levels, power losses, P.F and harmonics. In this study we will Find the optimal placement and sizing of distributed generation PV units in the network then illustrate the impact of the added PV DG units by conducting a new power flow study and harmonic distortion analysis and making an economic evaluation of the added DG units in this system. After using the Artificial Intelligent Algorithms, the results showed that the power factor at each bus decreases sharply, the voltage profile increases, the total power losses decrease and the THD decreases.
