This study aimed at exploring the reality of Arabic poetry within the content of the text books of the Palestinian Arabic language curriculum for the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades, in light of their treatment of literary criticism skills, the diversity of poetic themes, and the eras to which they belong, which are taught in the academic year (2023/2024). To achieve the study's objectives, the researcher employed a descriptive method and content analysis approach, and developed three content analysis cards after benefiting from the related educational literature. The three analysis cards included indicators reflecting literary criticism skills, poetic themes, and chronological eras. All the poetic lessons included in all parts of the text books of the Arabic language curriculum for the sixth, seventh, and eighth grades were analyzed, the analysis included the poet's biographical card, the poetic texts themselves, and the evaluative questions that followed. The results of this analysis showed a weakness in developing students' literary criticism skills, a lack of diversity in poetic themes, and a lack of diversity in the chronological eras of the texts being taught in these books.
