The course involves a number of advanced characterization techniques commonly used in elucidating structures for different inorganic compounds. NMR, Moss-Bauer, Vibrational spectra. Other structural techniques (XPS & Auger, and other microscopic methods) will be independently studied by the students. Different types of inorganic compounds (including molecular inorganic compounds, coordination compounds, organometallic compounds) will be involved. Solid state material characterizations will also be involved in this course.
The course aims at enabling learner to utilize physical characterization techniques in studying inorganic chemistry. The course material will thus enable students employ contemporary advanced techniques in their future research activities.
After completing this course students should be able to:
5. Use other additional analytical techniques and use them in structural determination of inorganic compounds.
