Course Description

I have initiated  the introduction of this  course  in the department\s new course plan. I am the  first one who has taught to students in the Translation minor.

It is an introduction  to  editing and copyediting in particular. It trains students  how to copyedit  and proofread a text  in English. Students  are introduced to the ABCs of copyediting, its types,  theories, challenges,  techniques,  tools and methodologies. It also familiarizes them with the   technological resources  avaialble for copyediting. 

Course Objectives

Training  students on  editing skills to increase their capacity to represent their  would-be institutions  to foreign counterparts.

Improving their English writing skills  within their work environment  and personal life

Boosting their confidence  to edit without fear.

Introducting  them to E-resources  relevant to editing and translation

 

Intended learning Outcomes and Competences

Students will have a good understanding of  editing and its types and skills 

Students will  understand that editing is a science , an art and a craft which can make a difference in their professional and personal life.

Students will  become familiar with editing terminology

Students will become familiar with electronic resources related to editing and will acquire  computer editing skills such as trach changes feature.

Students  will  have a good background about the business of editing and translation.
