Course Description

The course will emphasizes on the most important communication skills to enable the student to play a vital role in patient education and thus improving patient understanding and compliance.

I t will also introduces the students to the principles of communication skills and basic steps for patient education and counseling.

Course Objectives

The course will emphasizes on the most important communication skills to enable the student to play a vital role in patient education and thus improving patient understanding and compliance.

Intended learning Outcomes and Competences

-  Knowledge and Understanding, by the end of this course the students will be able to:

a.1.  Summaries barriers of communication

a.2. Appraise verbal and nonverbal communication ways and scenarios

a.3. Implemen interpersonal communication

a.4. Recognize the requirements for interpersonal communication

b- Intellectual Skills.

b.1. develope an ability to minimize communication barriers

b.2  Plan appropriate patient drug education 

b.3. design appropriate patient drug interviews

c- Professional and Practical Skills:

c.1. Implement knowledge in communication skills to effective communication with patients and coworkers

c.2. Use techniques learned to minimize communication interferences

c.3. design patient evaluation formats

 d- General and transferable skills:

d.1. Check types of literature used in Health profession by searching Internet data base for it

d.2. Plan for independent  learning by designing case scenarios for different patients population

d.3. Improve communication skills by work in a team.
