Course Description

The Course explores the basic principles and concepts of 'Health Education.' It focuses on the Methods used for caring for healthy or sick individuals and/or group(s) in the Community or in Health Care Institutions. The Course also centers on the Communication Approaches and Techniques that are relevant to the provision of Nursing Care to individuals and groups. The course organized the Communication that it is a critical skill for nursing. It is the process by which humans meet their survival needs, build relationships, and experience emotions. In order to explain man’s interaction with the environment, Social networks, Roles, Social Influences and Attitude Changes are studied. In addition, modes of communication that influence health behavior will be explored. Also, many factors influence the communication process will be discussed. Therapeutic communication promotes understanding and can help establish a constructive relationship between the nurse and the client.

This course will be enhanced therapeutic communication in a patient interaction through using a variety of techniques by health care provider to develop helping relationship between health care provider and patient\client. Arranged Communication and Group Processes, group dynamic will be studied. Emphasis will be on the Effective communication among the health professions that it is as important as the promotion of therapeutic communication between the nurse, health providers and the client. Nursing Care and care giver for Patients with Special Communication Needs also will be studied.

Course Objectives

The course aims to equip student with techniques and skills of communication required in their professional life in addition to provide them with the main elements of teaching –learning process. In addition, to prepare them to provide health education successfully.
