• Morphological image processing
  • Preliminaries, erosion, dilation, opening, closing, and basic morphological algorithms
• Image Segmentation
  • Compoenents detection, thresholding, and region segmentation
• Representation and Description
  • Descriptors and feature extraction
• Introduction to object recognition

This course provides a fundamental understanding of digital image processing techniques, including image enhancement, coding, and image analysis.

At the end of this course, students should be able to:

• Know the fundamentals of digital image
• Understand and design enhancement filters in special and frequency domain
• Know the concepts of color image processing
• Explain the concepts of image compression algorithms
• Perform morphological image processing
• Explain the concepts of image representation and recognition
